Description A total of 20 members attended the site visit to APT satellite ground control center at the Tai Po Industrial Estate, about 20 km from the city. Before touring the facilities, members were briefed on satellite systems, orbital background, satellite subsystems including attitude control, tracking, telemetry, electric power, thermal control and propulsion. The company currently operated three satellites built by Hughes and Space System Loral which covered the Asian region. Members were also briefed on the characteristics of each of the satellites and their transponders. After a Q&A session, members toured the control rooms, transmission facilities and tracking antennae ranging from 8.1 m to 13 m.
